When a New Family Moves In
When a new family moves into your block, please do the following.
- Please contact this family this week to schedule a time when all adult members of the family can meet so you can deliver this manual to them, and accomplish the items below. If you find the previous family left their binder, please return this to your Ward Emergency Preparedness Coordinator
- Introduce yourself as their Block Captain and walk them through this manual; giving them an overview of the neighborhood emergency plan.
- Review page 6 of this manual titled, “Immediate Response Instructions to an Emergency.” Train them on how to use the color cards/strips found in the back of this manual.
- Explain that the purpose of our neighborhood emergency plan is to teach and encourage families to prepare themselves, as well as assist other families, in the event of an emergency. To this end we ask each family to complete a Form 2 (which is found in the front pocket of this binder). Fill out the form with them during this visit. DO NOT LEAVE IT WITH THEM FOR THEM TO FILL OUT LATER. Help them do it right now.
- Once Form 2 has been completed, make two more copies. One copy goes to the Block Captain, the other to the Assistant Captain, and the last one to the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.
If you are unable to do this in a timely manner please ask for assistance from your Block/Assistant Captain, or your Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.
